MEMBERSHIP
Membership
to ASG is open to those who share a love of sewing. For each
person, joining ASG is a personal decision. Our members may
sew clothing for themselves and their family. They may decorate
their home with new draperies or a duvet that they have designed
and sewn. Many members quilt and make bed quilts or quilted
Art Wear. Others may sew for fashion dolls or for children's
dolls.
ASG members
have knowledge and skills ranging from beginners to professional
level. All levels of skill are welcome at the Albuquerque
branch. Our members share information and assist each other
with projects. There are community groups who get together
to sew projects between our general meetings.
At many
meetings techniques are demonstrated. There is a Show &
Tell at each meeting to share projects and ideas.
Members
are invited to become active in the Board in order to propel
new ideas and form a cohesive plan for each year. To date,
the Board has brought in professional speakers; created community
projects such as, "Sew for the Cure" (hats for recovering
cancer patients), and cloth dolls for sick children. And,
just for fun, an ugly fabric exchange in which members sew
projects into treasures.
Members
receive "Notions" newsletter from ASG Headquarters;
"Biased Opinions" newsletter from the local Albuquerque
Chapter; 10% group discount card from JoAnn's fabric store;
monthly meetings with door prizes; a lending library of books,
videos, and patterns brought to each meeting; and a membership
list (members may opt to not have their name listed).
